Carol Spenser trained in Drama in the mid-1970’s at Goldsmith’s University, London, during which time she co-founded one of the first TIE companies in the UK. After several years teaching Drama in the north of England, she moved to London in 1980 to take up a career in PR, specialising in media training for celebrities employed by major brands such as Gillette and Guinness. During this time, she was also involved with media liasion for the BAFTA’s and publicity for the launch of TVAM and Ch 4.
In 1991 she founded her own company, ‘Public Persona’, adding Image training to her media services for celebrities, public figures and politicians. As an expert at the top of her field, she increasingly became in demand as a TV and radio presenter in her own right on matters of image and self-presentation and took on her own agent to manage her career. Over the past 25 years, Carol has been a regular presenter on BBC Good Morning, GMTV, Granada TV, Carlton TV, Sky TV, Channel 5 and Channel 4. She has co-presented with Anne Diamond, Lorraine Kelly, Paula Yates and Claudia Winkleman (to name but a few) and has been a regular contributor to BBC Radio and numerous national magazines and newspapers.
In the late 1990’s, due to her media success, Carol founded ‘Style Directions’ to launch her services to the general public while continuing her private media/image work. She has written six best-selling books in the ‘Style Counsel’ and ‘Style Directions’ series; been nominated ‘Columnist of the Year’ for her journalism and is in high demand for training and seminars both in the UK and abroad including USA, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and, most recently, China and India.
Carol Spenser began a new chapter with the launch of ‘Brynmoor Associates’, using her in-depth knowledge and experience within the media-world to help forge the careers of new and exciting talent for stage, screen and radio. Carol divides her time between London, The North (from where she hails) and her country home in Suffolk.
